How To Market Yourself To Potential Employers

How to Sell Yourself to Employers

Your job hunting tactics mould the kind of work you are getting.

It takes more than being at the right place, at the right time; marketing yourself is something you should prepare for. Employers will only hire you if you are able to communicate your knowledge and skills. Developing and utilizing your marketing flair is, therefore, important to land you the job you dream of!

You are a Product

And because you are one, you need to pack yourself in a saleable image. It is important that you present yourself in a pleasant way. Start with your resume. Don’t hand in unpolished personal data. Is it updated? Does it respond to the job ad? Customize your resume according to the needs of the vacancy. Your cover letter should also be in ‘mailable’ form meaning that it should not tolerate nor accommodate typos. Especially don’t misspell your employer’s name! Then when you step into a room of a panel of interviewers, make sure you look agreeable and ready to do business. Remember what they say, “First impression lasts” and with job interviews, that interview day may be your only time to convince them you are worth it. So, do your best.

You are more than a Package

Consumers barely buy something just because it looks pretty. They often want to know “what’s in it for them?”. When you go out there and market yourself to employers, you follow the same concept and tell them what you can do for them. They won’t hire you for nothing. They always want something back commensurate to if not more than what they are paying you. Applicants sometimes fail the interview by asking so much about what the company can do for them. Remember they’re the ones you have to convince to buy you and not the other way around. So, don’t go bragging and making them feel they owe you a favor by letting you come here to waste your time for a little chitchat.

Your Sales Spiel

There is no such thing as too much advertisement. If you want that job that bad, then go your way to get it. Yet, there are some pointers that you might want to take to heart to make your spiel right. Avoid being overconfident or too talkative during your interview. Nobody wants a blabbermouth. Know the company and the open position well and tailor fit your answers to the traits needed in the position. If you know these information, it’s easier to persuade them that you are a perfect fit for the job. You are in to impress them by making them find the qualities they need in you. However, don’t lie. Recruiters do reference checks so, make your spiel impressive but honest.

Make them Come Back for More

Only a few interviews end leaving employers a good impression. End yours with one. After you have emphasized the skills that you can offer, let them know you are interested. Good advertisements on television always leave the customer remembering about a good line that was said. It may be serious or funny but it leaves them thinking about it. If you can close your discussion like a bomb, they are most likely to get back to you a day or two later.

15 Tips To Lose 10 Pounds Or More

There was a time in this world when the need to lose weight was completely unheard of. People ate well, but the worked well too. They woke up early in the morning and then engaged in a whole day’s work. This work was mostly physical labor. People worked on fields digging, sowing, harvesting. They tilled they soil, rode horses, worked on farms and ranches. The result was that they could afford to eat almost anything they wanted in whatever quantities they wanted. But that was ages ago. The world has changed so much since those days. Life styles have changed so much and the comforts and facilities have increased so much.

But every rose has its thorn. As a result of all these comforts and amenities the state of physical well being has really changed. Most of us have sedentary jobs that demand little or no exercise at all. To put it simply, things have become so damn easy. And just as can be expected, weight gain has become a major concern for almost every city dweller.

During the period of thoughtless youth it is not such a major concern. The young practically eat nothing and so weight problems do not bother them so much. But as soon as you turn twenty, you start showing signs of weight gain and that too in all the wrong places.

It’s not about the hour glass figure or the perfectly sculpted and toned body. It is more about staying fit and remaining healthy to ensure a long, disease free life. Every body knows that those extra pounds spell illness. All over the world people are switching to a healthier life style and the catch line is indeed weight loss.

There is only one thing that you have to bear in mind. Weight loss does not happen by itself. There are only two ways to accomplish it… The first is by watching what you eat and the second is by seeing to it that your body gets the exercise that it needs.

As you read this post, my hope is that you’re continually amazed by all the “everyday” things you can be doing to lose 10 pounds…or more. Simple effective ways that can help you shed all the unwanted pounds in no time…

15 Tips To Lose 10 Pounds Or More

Drink plenty of water. Our body needs a lot of water so give in to water. Water is not just way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. This it self will discourage any tendency to gorge. The best thing about water is that is has no calories at all.

Stay away from sweetened bottle drinks, especially sodas. Hey all those colas and fizzy drinks are sweetened with sugar and sugar means calories. The more you can cut out on these sweetened bottle drinks, the better for you. So if you must drink sodas, then stick to diet sodas.

Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened but fresh fruits have natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which is needed by the body, and fruits of course are an excellent source of vitamins.

Increase your fiber intake. Like I mentioned, the body needs a lot of fiber. So try to include in your diet as many fruits and vegetables as you can.

Eat intelligently. The difference between man and beast is that we are driven by intelligence while beasts are driven by instinct. Don’t just eat something because you feel like eating it. Ask your self whether your body really needs it.

Go easy on tea and coffee. Tea and coffee are harmless by themselves. It’s when you add the cream and sugar that they become fattening. Did you know that having a cup of tea or coffee that has cream and at least two cubes of sugar is as bad as having a big piece of rich chocolate cake?

Do not skip meals. The worst thing you can do while watching you diet is skip a meal. It has just the opposite effect of what you want. You need to have at least four regular meals every day.

Fresh vegetables are better than cooked or canned vegetables. Try to eat your vegetables raw. When you cook them, you are in fact taking away nearly half the vitamins in them. And canned vegetables too are processed and are not nearly half as good as fresh vegetables. When you buy your vegetables it would be a good thing to see if the label says that it is pesticide free.

Choose a variety of foods from all food groups every day. This is a fine way of keeping deficiency diseases at bay. Change the items included in your diet every day. This is an excellent way of keeping deficiency diseases at bay and it helps you to experiment with a variety of dishes and there by you do not get bored of your diet.

Try to have breakfast within one hour of waking. It’s always best to have breakfast within an hour of waking so that your body can charge itself with the energy it needs for the day. The idea is not to wait for your self to get really hungry. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but that does not mean that it should be the most filling meal of the day.

Go ahead eat cheat food, but only for flavor. There are many things which you have to avoid from your diet but which you may have an undying craving for. Do not avoid them altogether. You could call them cheat foods and indulge in them once in a while. But take care just to tingle your taste buds, don’t hog on them. Instead of that share them with others.

Watch your fat intake. Each fat gram contains 9 calories so by reading the total calories on a food and knowing the quantity of fat, you can estimate the % of fat, which should in no way exceed 30% of the food.

Instead of frying things try baking them without fat. Baking or BBQ’ing is by far a healthier method of preparing food than frying. BBQ’ing requires lesser oil or fat.

Avoid crash diets. They are bad for health and you will gain what you have lost once you take a break. Crash diets are not a solution to weight loss. It might seem as if you have lost few pounds but the moment you give up on the crash diet every thing will bounce back with a vengeance. Take a look at it in this way. Do you think that it is possible for a person to survive on a crash diet for the rest of his or her life? Certainly not! So at some time or the other, you will have to give up the crash diet and then you will see for yourself that a crash diet does more harm than good on the long run. Crash diets may have a lot to promise, but very rarely do these promises ring true. Crash diets are things people go on in order to wear an old dress or suit for a particular occasion. That’s the only purpose that they serve as far as I can see.

God gave us teeth for a reason… Therefore we should develop a habit of chewing all food including liquid food and soft foods like sweets, ice creams at least 8 to 12 times. This is essential to add saliva to the food, as it is only in the saliva that sugar is digested. Often we find that whatever goes into our mouth goes down like lightning. We hardly give the saliva any time to act on the food. So does digestion take place like it should? Do we just stuff our tummies with food that doesn’t get digested or in other words that doesn’t yield the benefits that it should? Exercise out doors as far as possible. There are two advantages of doing whatever you are doing out side. One advantage is that it gives your body a chance to get a lot of the much needed fresh air and sunshine. The second advantage is that the surroundings keep you perked up and it is a break form remaining cooped up all day long

Volunteering

You have valuable things to offer other people. Even if you feel as though you have absolutely nothing to contribute to society, there is undoubtedly something you can do in a volunteer capacity. Can you read? You might volunteer to read to children at a story hour in the local library. Can you talk? You can volunteer to visit an elderly person in their home once a week and simply have a nice chat. Can you pick up trash? There are plenty of volunteer organizations with the main goal of beautifying local parks. Just think of all the great things you can do, with very little effort, which will make a huge difference in someone’s life. Find something that you love to do and then start doing it as a volunteer. There are volunteer positions for just about anything you’re willing to do. Children’s hospitals have volunteers who go around to the different rooms and sing babies to sleep. Local government offices take in volunteers to greet people at information booths and direct people to the right offices. Schools have volunteer bus riders who make sure the kids are all under control for the duration of the bus ride. There is no limit to the good things you can do as a volunteer in your community.

Helping others just feels good.
You might be having the lousiest of days, but then you go and volunteer to help with a party for disadvantaged kids in your community; seeing their eyes light up and hearing their squeals of delight will surely erase any melancholy feelings you have about the first part of your day. Sometimes, when you know you are doing something good for someone without asking for anything in return, it can be an absolute rush. You will feel better about yourself knowing that you are doing something that is changing someone’s life in a positive way.

Volunteering can lead to new professional opportunities.
When you are typing up a résumé in hopes of landing a new job, you can put any sort of experience on there to include volunteer experience. You may have never worked in an office setting professionally, but if you have spent a few months volunteering at an office you can list all the skills you learned there when applying for a paying job. Oftentimes, monotonous tasks are assigned to volunteers such as filing, answering phones, and opening mail. These are the exact skills, however, that potential employers might be seeking out. Another aspect to take into consideration is that sometimes a volunteer position will turn into a paid position for the right person. For example, you might be volunteering as administrative help for a local non-profit organization, when suddenly there is room in the organization’s budget for the position to be a paid one. Or maybe the leaders of an organization recognize your hard work as a volunteer and offer you a paying job. Not all people volunteer with the hopes of getting hired into a permanent position, but it is a wonderful way to learn new skills while also giving something back to the community.

You will make society a better place
. Not only can volunteering make your life better, it is also to the benefit to the society you live in, for if there were no volunteers picking up trash in the park, who would do it? If there were no volunteers helping out disadvantaged youth, who would help these kids stay out of trouble? Volunteers do what they do without expecting pay in return; therefore the local government does not need to fill the gaps with paid positions. This keeps taxes low. Volunteers also help people who would otherwise be out causing mischief within society, so this keeps crime levels low in the community. When you volunteer your time and talents, you aren’t simply getting a great feeling and helping yourself learn new skills, but you are helping everyone in your local area and beyond. Now that’s a great feeling.

The Readiness For Change

You start your quest in getting your life together by figuring out what it is that would make your life feel more complete. Do you want to be happier? Do you want to be more satisfied? Are you looking for more contentment in your life? If you don’t know where you stand right now, then you certainly won’t be able to figure out what you need to do in order to reach the happiness, satisfaction, or contentment you crave.

WHY CHANGE NOW?

Getting your life in order can entail many different things. Maybe your finances feel out of control, but your physical health is great. Perhaps you have the highest degree you can possibly attain, but your house is so full of clutter you can’t see the floor. Whatever has led you to decide to get your life in order, there is no harm in making positive changes in every aspect of your life…even the ones that you didn’t necessarily think needed improvement.

READINESS

Have you had your “a-ha” moment? What has led you to decide to get your life together? Obviously there has to be something going on that makes you feel as though your life is not in order if you have made the decision to make some changes. Did you wake up one morning and make the bold proclamation that today is your day to change your life? Or did you receive another delinquency notice in the mail to add to a growing stack? Maybe you broke off a relationship with your romantic partner and you’re ready for a fresh start. If you know your motivation, you are more likely to attack the task at hand and begin down the path of changing your life with full vigor.

Are you just sick of your current life? Sometimes there isn’t a big, defining moment that leads people to want to change their lives. Instead, it may be a series of events that shed light on the fact that it is time to get their life together. Many people simply realize for no particular reason that the life they are living is just not the life they had envisioned for themselves, and if this is the case for you, there is still great motivation to change your life for the better. Examine all the things you do not like about your current situation so you can fashion a new life that will make you happier.

You decide when you’re really ready. Your parents or other loved ones may have been harping on you for some time to get a better job, go back to school, stop eating junk food, or whatever else needs changing in your life. The decision ultimately rests with you, however, and until you are personally ready to make all the necessary changes, you probably won’t have the dedication needed to see real results. Don’t do something just because someone else tells you that you need to…do it because you want to, and because you are also ready to take on the responsibility of getting your life together.

Don’t change your life to mirror someone else’s.Maybe you were going along enjoying life when you met someone who really seemed to have his or her life together, and it made you feel a little inferior. Perhaps you decided at that point that you were going to make big changes and get your life together in order to be more like this person. Beware of making big changes just because you get the impression from someone else that they have some sort of better life than you do. The decision to change your life should rest in a conscious decision on your part that life just isn’t working out the way you would like it to, and now is the time to make the necessary changes to get everything in order. You should also realize that the side of people that is public, in other words the side of people that you actually see, is oftentimes not a true representation of what is going on in their lives. The person you know who seems so well put together and in control of things, might actually be crying themselves to sleep every night because they are so miserable. So yes, there is always room for improvement in people’s lives, but the decision to get your life together should be a decision you make on your own, regardless of what other people say or do. Don’t allow yourself to be convinced that your life is unhappy or out of control when in fact it isn’t all that bad.

WILLINGNESS

Some changes aren’t easy.If you have some serious issues in your life that need to be addressed, such as addiction or destructive relationships, you are going to have to work mighty hard to get your life in order. If you have always gone out on Friday nights with your friends, and then decide that you need to get your life together and stop drinking, you may find it harder than you thought to turn down their invitation when Friday night rolls around. Even small changes are sometimes difficult; someone who starts each morning with a flavored coffee drink on the way to work, may find it hard to break the habit after he or she decides to try to end unnecessary expenses in an effort to become more financially secure. The question as to whether you are truly ready to take on all the challenges associated with getting your life together is a question that can only be answered by you.

How gung-ho are you?It is one thing to decide that you need to change your life, but it is another thing entirely to take the necessary steps in order to do so. Just recognizing all the different aspects of your life that need improvement can be exhausting, let alone implementing all the essential steps for change. If you feel ready to attack the aspects of your life that you don’t like, then move full speed ahead. You may find that, as you begin to make changes and notice differences, your motivation will increase exponentially. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink. If your friend hands you a book about getting your life together and suggests to you that your time has come to fix your life, you probably will be less willing to analyze your life as you might have been if you had come to the conclusion yourself. The person who makes the decision that your life needs a little more order is you, and nobody else.

ABILITY Sometimes, getting your life together will entail things like paying down debt or paying for occupational training. If this sort of thing sounds out of your financial league, you should recognize that where there is a will, there is a way. There are many people who are, at this very moment, delivering newspapers or moonlighting as kitchen staff to get the necessary funds to pay for the things they desire. The opportunity to make extra money is all over the place; you just need to be willing to seek it out and work a little harder than usual to obtain it.

If you don’t have the resources, create them.

It’s up to you…mostly.Yes, the responsibility of getting your life together rests squarely on your shoulders. This does not mean that other people cannot assist you along the way. You never know who might have just the advice you need in order to move forward, and sometimes it comes from the most unexpected places. Maybe you have worked next to someone for years and never knew that they were once in a position that you would love to be in, such as a professional singer or perhaps a teacher. While you are attempting to figure out ways to get your life together, it would be wise to chat with other people about their various life experiences. You really never know what sort of valuable information you might discover about someone and additionally might be able to apply to your own life.

You can do it, really. Some goals seem so incredibly unattainable that many folks won’t even bother trying to reach them. If you wistfully dream about someday being out of debt, what is stopping you from starting to pay your debt down slowly this very day? If you dream of losing weight, why not go for a walk? Little changes can make a big difference, and you need to stop looking towards a quick fix. The more you work towards a goal, the easier it’s going to get. Consider the beginning of your efforts as a sort of initiation period that everyone needs to go through before efficiently getting their lives together. You may look back on these days in amusement someday, with a sort of fond admiration for your willingness to move forward. “I remember struggling to get up the nerve to enroll in college,” you might hear yourself say in the future, as you look on to your classroom full of students. “If I could do it, so can you!”

What sorts of changes are ahead? This book emphasizes four main categories of change for people who are looking to get their lives together: emotional, physical, financial, and spiritual. A person cannot hope to have their life in order if they are an emotional wreck. Emotional problems, whether minor or major, have such an enormous affect on a person’s daily dealings that nobody can have a smooth life without working through whatever emotional problems he or she might have. Physical health also has a tremendous influence on how together someone’s life is. Inside, a person may feel like a million bucks and be ready to conquer the world, but if they can’t walk up a flight of stairs without panting and sweating, they are not living life to its full potential. Financial issues are a big problem for many people. Even if every other aspect of a person’s life is in order, financial problems can cause someone to feel quite anxious and out of control. Finally, spirituality is brought up as a major aspect of getting a life together for a few reasons. Real solace can be found in spirituality for many people, but even if someone decides to denounce all religions, they should do so after making an informed decision. Spirituality is just another section of people’s lives that always has room for improvement and reflection. Other topics are mentioned, and are all worthy of consideration by someone who is looking to get his or her life in order: attention is given to things like occupational satisfaction, educational goals, and the idea of starting a whole new life somewhere new, complete with a different home, job, and friends. There are countless other topics that should be brought into consideration when getting your life together, and just because something isn’t covered here, it doesn’t mean it’s not an important and valid topic that deserves attention. You are the only person who truly knows what you need to change in order to get your life together, but the hope is that the topics discussed in this book will work as an outline for making great things happen for you.

Change can be awful scary and intimidating.Your current life, although it is perhaps not what you truly want, is what you are used to, and for this reason alone, you may be reluctant to try to switch things up. But you’ll never know what might have been if you don’t give changing a try. It may be that someday you look back on the day you decided to get your life together and breathe a sigh of relief that you were willing to take the first step.

Why Work From Home?

WHY WORK AT HOME?
Why do people work at home? If you poll them (and that has been done, so there is no
need for you to start canvassing the neighborhood), you will find that a variety of factors
allow people to move from time clocks to self-reliance Let’s take a look at a handful of
popular reasons for pursuing a work at home career.

OPPORTUNITY
If the idea of working at home is appealing, you might just be an opportunity junkie.
Many of us crave the chance to do great things and find that our traditional nine to five
work environments are very limiting.

Women may have a glass ceiling with which to contend, but all of us have another even
harder ceiling to break through right above that one. It’s the inevitable ceiling of being
an employee instead of a business owner.
No matter how hard you work, no matter how smart you are, the structure of a traditional
job and the limitations inherent in your role as one of the hive’s worker bees will limit
you.

You might become a boss some day, but you will never become The Boss. The
opportunity just isn’t there.
Even if there is enough opportunity to entice you to continue making the daily commute
to the office for awhile, chances are those real chances for fulfillment are doled out
arbitrarily and unfairly.

The shots you do get to move up the ladder or closer to your goals are few, far between,
and inevitably mishandled by someone who outranks you.
Operating your own business from home restores opportunity. Any limits on your
success or growth are within your own control.

If you want to do something, there is no head office to clear it. You don’t have to fill out
a requisition form if you want to invest in yourself. You don’t need to smile during
evaluation week so that your middle manager with the happy face obsession will give
you a great performance review.

Opportunity is everywhere. When you have your own home business, the only limits are
the one’s you place upon yourself.

MONEY
Many of those who are break from the herd and work from home do so because of the
prospect of greater earnings. Along with the aforementioned opportunity in a general
sense comes the chance to make more dough.
Many work at home successes earn so much more than they ever would have if they
continued on their prior path that it boggles the mind.

If you get a halfway decent job that you can stay at for decades and you are a good
employee, you will probably find a way to make a decent living by popular standards.
Your income will allow you to buy a home, keep your lawnmower blades sharpened and
to occasionally take a family vacation. Two cars and a chicken in the pot are not things
at which one should sneer, either. They beat a worn pair of shoes and a “will work for
food” sign be a significant margin.

In the end, though, those in the regular workplace have a cap on their earnings. That
cap may not be expressed in any contract or the result of any hard and fast law, but it is
very real. The very factors that limit opportunity in general will also limit earning
capacity.

By stepping outside the employee circle and into the world of running your own
business, you can destroy that cap.
If having a chance to make big money is important to you, running your own operation is
definitely appealing.

FLEXIBILITY
The fact that you work nine to five, Monday through Friday, might not be that distressing
to you. Until your kid’s softball team makes it to the state tournament and plays their
Thursday semi-final game at six in a city two hours away.
The fact that you only have five vacation days per year until you have been with the firm
for more than two full years may make perfect sense for a company, but that provides
little comfort when you finally meet the woman of your dreams and she wants to take
you on a romantic, two-week tropical cruise. You get the idea.

Those who work from home have the ultimate in flexibility. They really can set their own
hours the way very few employees can. Some work early. Others work late. Some work
only a few hours a week, but for long hours on those days. Others work as necessary.
It depends on the home business. However, the home business is within the control of
its boss, and if she wants to take mid-afternoon naps or if he wants to spend
Wednesdays at the driving range, there is nobody one step higher on the corporate
ladder to tell her or him “no.”

FAMILY
Every morning someone drops off his or her child at daycare, gets back in the car and
starts to do the math in his or her head.
Their daycare provider has the kid from eight until five-thirty, five days a week. That’s
forty seven and a half hours per week.
The parent has the child from about six a.m. until eight and then again from five-thirty
until that eight o’clock bedtime. That’s twenty two and a half hours per week. Even if
one gives himself or herself full credit for two full weekend days of “awake time,” the
total is still only at fifty two and a half hours per week.
That’s right, the child only sees his or her parent for about five more hours per week
than he does his daycare provider.
For many parents, that just isn’t tolerable. In fact, it’s heart-wrenching and it’s one of the
chief reasons why many are inspired to start their own work at home business.
Yes, it may be tough to seal big deals with a two year old trying to stick a Crayola up
your nose, but that challenge is far more palatable than the idea of a child growing up
with only slightly more contact with his or her parents than his or her babysitter.
Even those who don’t have children may be interested in the familial advantages offered
by stay at home work. Spouses can see more of each other. Those who are
accustomed to being forced to do business on the road can finally enjoy a husband or
wife again.
Working at home puts one in the midst of family as powerfully as regular jobs can
separate one from his or her home life.

INTERESTS
Many people feel trapped doing jobs they despise. You can see it in their faces. From
the angst-ridden barista at any one of ten local Starbucks who could be making shrewd
stock deals all day to the slow-moving housepainter who always wanted to be a chef,
you encounter people who are working outside of their interests and skills just to collect
a check.

Some people learn to compromise. They take solace in Mr. Holland’s Opus and
convince themselves that eventually all of that compromise will add up to something
meaningful. They shove their interests and true desires to the back of their mind and try
to retain focus on doing their job.

Yes, a few people are lucky enough to find employment that really matches their skill
levels and attitudes nicely, but many more spend their time doing things in which they
have only a marginal interest outside of the bi-weekly paycheck their efforts produce.
Though some will swallow the disappointment and frustration, those who decide to work
at home will not. They opt to pursue their dreams and to find ways to make their skills
and their “calling” into action.

It can be far more fulfilling than simply working for the sake of earning a salary. It
imbues one’s vocational life with great meaning and appeal.

Every year, thousands escape the rat race. They shed jobs that limit their potential and satisfaction. They find fulfillment in their work and unprecedented financial rewards. No more commutes. No more annoying supervisors. No more dead end jobs. They operate their own businesses from the comfort of their own home. Will you join them?

Pampering Your Cat

Since ancient times, humans and cats have been inseparable. People have kept cats as pets for centuries and the unique bond that can develop between felines and their owners is absolutely amazing. After centuries of companionship and recognition of the wonderful relationship
that can develop between people and cats, it is no wonder that so many cat owners are seeking out ways to better care for their beloved pets.

Cat pampering is not just a hobby for those obsessives who wallpaper their rooms with the pages of Cat Fancy. On the contrary, cat pampering is a
common practice for many cat owners. The underlying rationale for pampering one’s cat is based on a few notions. One is the simple extension of the Golden Rule. We do unto our pets as we would have our keepers do upon us if roles were reversed. We extend that principle to our pets, particularly cats, because we care for them so deeply. Another reason for cat pampering is simply to strengthen our relationship with cats.

There is something indescribable about a perfect cat/owner partnership and it is not surprising that those who understand this seek out ways to
strengthen the special bonds. This ebook is designed to give you some wonderful pointers and ideas about cat pampering. Of course, it is not comprehensive. No manual on how to better treat your cat could ever be complete. Only your imagination and your understanding of your pet limit you! Nonetheless, this guide should provide anyone with an interest in cats with a range of great ideas.

This ebook is written from two perspectives. The first, which you are reading now, is from that of a human author. Miles, a fairly pampered cat with a few observations of his own, will provide the second perspective. The segments of this ebook entitled “Miles Says” are provided to provide a degree of levity and a slightly different look at some of the things we do for our cats. We hope you find this ebook valuable and enjoyable. It was written with cat lovers in mind and should be a wonderful way to inspire readers to seek out and try new ways of pampering their very special pets.

WAYS TO MAKE YOUR CAT FEEL SPECIAL
You know that you love your cat, so make sure that you always show it! Some cats don’t like a lot of attention, while others demand your undivided attention. Whether you have a cat that likes you to pay attention or not, they all like at least a little from time to time. Just be prepared when they are ready for it. Your cat will most likely live to be in the 20s, so you will hopefully have a long time together. In that time, it will become easier and easier to find little ways to pay attention to one another.

Your pampered cat will most likely have a special relationship with everyone in the home. He or she may act a little differently with the children than the adults. Likewise, you may treat your cat differently than your child may. There are a ton of things to do to really make your cat feel like a part of the family. You can let them sleep with you, make them their own special treats and even take them on family vacations, if they don’t get sick on you! You can play with a cat, or snuggle with it. You may be able to take it for a car ride, but most cats aren’t crazy with that idea, like their canine counterparts. Your cat will most likely play with toys and take long slumbers, if you will let it, too. There are many things you can do to make your cat feel important and special to you. You can give him or her massage a couple of times a week. You could let him or her sleep in your bed. Your cat might even like to have homemade treats made with a little TLC just for him or her.

Pampering your cat isn’t really that hard. You don’t have to have a lot of money to do it, wither. You can make homemade toys, treat and food for your cat. You can watch the birds with your cat and you can even give your cat a manicure. If your trees aren’t too tall, your cat may even like a day of tree climbing, with your assistance. With a cat, the most important way to show him or her that they are special is just to love it! Your cat can quickly tell if affection is sincere or not. He or she may just like to have a pat on the head, or she may like their belly rubbed. Learn what it is that really makes your cat purr and then just keep doing it!

Suzi and Milo say: Attention is really the one thing I crave in
addition to food and sleep. Sometimes, I may act as though I
really don’t care one way or another—I have even been
known to just walk away while receiving a petting without
looking back. But trust me. I love the attention. It reminds
me that I matter to my owner. As a pet, that’s important to
me. The real lesson to learn from this chapter is that
pampering a cat doesn’t require a great deal of money. Sure,
I love the finer things in life. Who doesn’t? The thing that is
most important to me, however, is seeing an effort on the
part of my owner. Whether I receive expensive treats and
toys is secondary to knowing my owner cares about me.

Procrastination - Who me? I Dont Do That !

Procrastination is the end to your time. It is that because once you begin to procrastinate, it is likely that you will face a long road to getting back on track.

Procrastination is the means of putting off something for another day even though you have the ability and the time to obtain those goals right now.

If you are someone that is known for waiting until the last minute to get the work done, this could be causing you a variety of problems that can be wrecking your day and your time. The fact is, though, most people go through the process of procrastination, in different amounts every day.

When you procrastinate, you are actually not getting to achieve what you are capable of achieving and that can cause you to miss out on many opportunities for success in many ways. Procrastination can ruin your career because it may be the one thing that shows others that you are unable to achieve your goals.

How in the world can you actually get around this problem, then? Start with learning what is happening and knowing how to react when you begin to procrastinate. When you realize that you are procrastinating or about to, you can recognize this, stop it and get back on track to better managing your time.

It is also important for you to understand why people procrastinate and in doing so you will be in a better position to avoid allowing it to happen to you, over and over again.

Finally, you need to take the right steps to managing your time so that you can manage the outcomes of your time by learning how to deal with procrastination. It’s a mind set that you can not afford with the limited amount of time that you actually have.

Why Do You Procrastinate?
Procrastination is something that many people, if not all people, actually deal with. You should not believe that this is something that only you go through. Yet, it is something that you need to take care of as quickly as you can so that you can take back the time you are losing.

Procrastination is defined as putting off doing something that you should be putting your attention onto right now.

Usually, people do this when they want to do something else that is favorable, a bit more fun or even just easier.

Is this you? Do you spend long days working hard at what you are trying to accomplish but you are investing your time in accomplishing the easy tasks instead of taking on the larger, more important tasks?

A common problem here is that many people can not see the difference between priorities in tasks. For example, you have an important task to complete. You also have an urgent task to complete. Which do you go to first? You should accomplish the important task because it is just that, important!

Far too many people look towards accomplish the things that they think are necessary to complete right now, forgo the important task and then need to find a way or a time to balance the ball in their favor. Here are some common examples of this.

Let’s say you are working at your desk and in walks your boss. They need you to handle an important client. The phone rings, it is another employee, struggling to accomplish his task and wants your help. You get back to work. The other employee calls again. They need you. Which task do you do; the important client or the employee that will keep calling until you help?

The task here that you should be completing is that which is important, the one that needs your full attention and that will get you the most bang for the buck.

Unfortunately, far too many people strive to accomplish that other task because that person has complained, called and got into their head and they now are the loudest voice there telling them what to do.

But, when you react to that person, you change the way that the day is flowing. Now you need to deal with the important client, when you are stressed and overwhelmed. You’ll also have to explain to the boss why you made the client wait, why the task was not completed soon enough and in the end why the job was not done completely right (because you could not concentrate, of course.)

Other times when this can happen include when you think you are doing the right thing by asking fast. Or, perhaps you did not even think about which is the best task to complete and just jumped on board. That isn’t going to serve you well down the road when you need the help the most.

Are You Overwhelmed Yet?
One of the other reasons that many people struggle with procrastination does not have to do with any of these other situations. It has to do with the feeling of being so overwhelmed that you feel like you just can not do it.

For example, you have a large and important project on your desk. There are many steps to accomplishing it and it will take time to go through the project, organize and accomplish it.

The instant feeling of being overwhelmed attacks. You can feel it in your shoulders, in your head and all of a sudden, you just can no longer focus on the process and you end up facing the fact that today just got very long and complicated.

Perhaps you are not sure where you should start the project. You may even feel as if the task is so large or so hard that you do not have the skills or the ability to complete it or complete all of it. Perhaps you do not think you have all of the information and tools to get the job done right. Instead of accomplishing the task, then, you put it off to the side, for another day.

Why would you do that? Most people do this form of procrastination because it feels easier to accomplish something that they can do and know that they can do. They feel that the big project is just too hard.

Whether you have the intention of going back and completing the project or not, you have now sidestepped the job so that you can gain the comfort and the benefit of completing a job that is easier for you to do.

Since that was an important job, you realize at the last minute that you need to complete it and the overwhelming worry starts up all over a gain except; now there is more problem to deal with. Now, time is limited which means less focus and less ability to complete the job with the same quality that you could have done beforehand even though you think you could not have done so.

Important jobs and projects that are larger and harder do not just go away. They can not be shoved under the carpet until the next day, week or whenever you get to it. If you do that, you are likely to never be able to complete the project like you could complete it if you did it today, with your full attention and the time to do it right.

Procrastination can cause all types of negative situations for you. For example, some additional reasons that you may procrastinate include not being able to organize your thoughts and your needs, fearing that you will fail at the task, and waiting for the right time to start on your project. No matter what, it is still procrastination!

Many people need to work on improving their situations so that they can improve the overall need that they have for achieving time management skills. For some, being a perfectionist may be the reason that they do not step forward to complete the important tasks. For others, making decisions is not something that they know how to do correctly and thoroughly, which leads to not making any decision at all.

All of these signs of procrastination are just that: signs for you to stop doing them and to start taking back control of your time and your life. Understanding why it happens is the first step. Examine your life and the tasks that you are procrastinating right now. Why are you really putting off doing something that you could be doing today?

Let It Go

Are you letting your past define who you are now? Not everyone grows up in the house with the proverbial white picket fence. Dysfunctional family members are so relatable to the public nowadays that they are even main characters in primetime television shows. The point is that not everyone has a picture perfect childhood, not everyone looks back fondly upon their high school years, and not everyone has the best experiences throughout the rest of their lives.

If you have encountered undesirable occurrences in your life - whether it was a rough upbringing, torturous encounters with bullies during your school years, or maybe some bad romantic relationships – you need to take a good look at how these events have molded you into the person you are today. All sorts of personality traits can be blamed on your personal history.

Freud believed that babies who are not shown the affection they crave would eventually grow up to become melancholy adults. Although today’s psychology experts have since discredited a lot of what Freud believed, the idea is still a valuable one: your past has an affect on who you are today. It is up to you to decide whether the affect your past has on you is going to be detrimental or instead beneficial.

If you find that you are having trouble letting certain things from the past go, then perhaps it’s time to go on a serious soul-searching endeavor. Remember that you continually grow psychologically, and just because you were dealt some bad hands in the past, does not mean that you are a slave to your history.

Consider all past experiences as valuable ones. It can be said that your past defines you, or at least it helped form who you are today. Facing adversity in the past does not necessarily guarantee a scarred life forevermore. Some people take the bad things that happened to them in the past and use them as powerful learning experiences.

The fact of the matter is that, even if your life has been riddled with problems this far, there is no reason you cannot learn from your past and allow the events to teach you lessons. Have you had a particularly bad relationship? Take a hard look at what lead up to the relationship, such as why you chose the partner and why you stayed up to the point when you left.

Are you trying to recover from a particularly bad financial situation? If you analyze what led you to get into the situation to begin with, it can teach you how to never get into that sort of situation ever again. No matter what your life has been like so far, everything that has happened to you has helped to make you what you are today. You need to decide if you would rather ruminate over any bad experiences you have had, or if you will instead use them as valuable tools and move on with your life in a positive manner.

Acknowledge your past so you won’t be doomed to repeat it. Many people do things throughout their lives that they later consider to be mistakes…some events are so painful to think back on that people might wind up suppressing them and not allowing themselves to think about them ever again. This does not refer to regressive memories, but rather to events that a person is embarrassed about and chooses to not think about.

Cheating on a partner might fall into this category, or being involved in some sort of criminal act. Acknowledging your past does not mean that you need to announce to the world that you have had these sorts of experiences in your life, but instead it is more of an acknowledgement for your own sake.

If you find certain events in your past to have been so embarrassing or horrifying, the main objective is to give yourself the chance to mull it over. You should allow yourself to consider the various past events that you feel may be holding you back. You should also allow yourself the gift of forgiveness.

If you think about it, you are probably harder on yourself than anyone else is on you…if you forgive yourself for the mistakes you have made in the past you will find that you are better equipped to move forward in your life. What a powerful gift you can give yourself. No matter what your past holds, you can acknowledge your mistakes, forgive yourself, and move on.

Have a fun little “Letting Go” ritual. Many therapists and other psychology professionals endorse the idea of having a formal instance where you say goodbye to whatever memories from your past that are dragging you down. You might have pictures of a person who emotionally scarred you that you can burn, or maybe you have a piece of jewelry from a previous bad relationship that you can sell or give away.

Pick an action that will allow you to release the bad memory, and after your “Letting Go” ritual consider yourself as having moved on. Getting your life together will be so much easier if you go about it without a bunch of emotional baggage. There is so much more to changing your life than what has been listed so far, but use the suggestions as a sort of outline to get you revved up and ready to change your life.

There probably isn’t a person in the world whose life is absolutely perfect, and keeping a life in order takes constant revisions and flexibility. You can get to a point where you feel more satisfied with your life than you do now, however, only with some want and dedication.
